Zipper details are having a moment. From purses, like the Phillip Lim 3.1 Pashli, to even clothing, zipper details are all over the place. My favorite take on this trend is the zipper detail on these two sweaters. The Rebecca Taylor one is cool in an faux croc print and gorgeous wine color. At a much lower price though, Zara offers a sweater with the same zipper detail that’s hard not to love. Whether you budget or covet, this trend is easy to achieve.

I have been wanting to invest in a leather jacket for some time, but could never find one I loved at the right price. There were many expensive ones I loved, including this one from Club Monaco that seemed perfect. I loved the moto style and the gold hardware contrasting against the black leather. While the price was better than other high end ones, it still was more than I wanted to pay. After widening my search and coming up with nothing, the Club Monaco seemed to be my only option. Then out of nowhere I came across the one I am wearing here at the most unexpected place, Victoria’s Secret’s website. It was so similar to the Club Monaco one, but at a much better price! And once it arrived in the mail, I was not disappointed.
PS: The last photo is of the Banksy original recently done in my neighborhood. If you haven't heard of him yet, you should check out this article.
Happy Friday everyone! In this weeks Friday Find, I want to share with you Thomas Keller's cookbook Ad Hoc. Thomas Keller is one of my favorite chefs (mentioned here) and his dishes are master pieces. Ad Hoc is a little different though than his other books. It is more laid back and the recipes are more comfort food than elaborate dishes. Just paging through the book will make your mouth water. If you love to cook, I highly recommend this book. Have a great weekend!

Growing up, Gap was my jam, well actually Gap Kids. And recently, I have felt again that Gap is my jam. It seems Gap has been reading my mind. First, when I wanted a cape (seen here), they had one in the exact style I was looking for. Then I wanted a loose fitting cream cable knit sweater and I looked everywhere and nowhere could I find one that fit the style I wanted. I was about to quit my search, when I came across the perfect one at Gap. Since, Gap is fulfilling so many of my fashion needs recently, I want to share with you some of the other pieces I am loving right now. Don’t be surprised if you see some of these items pop up again on the blog.

Truffle grilled cheese sandwich; sounds fancy, right? Well to be completely honest with you, this sandwich was inspired by the TV show Gossip Girl. How might such a show inspire this sandwich? Well, in one of the first episodes, it is mentioned that Serena, the it girl of NYC society for those of you who did not watch, was fond of truffle grilled cheese sandwiches. You might wonder why I would remember this tidbit of information, well of course because I thought this sandwich sounded delicious and knew I had to make one. So without further ado, I bring you this truffle grilled cheese sandwich with fluffy, delicious bread, gooey cheese, and the perfect crispy outside. It is the perfect sandwich during cooler weather, aka right now.

Over the weekend, I finally had the opportunity to accomplish a couple of things on my fall to-do list: seeing the fall leaves and apple picking (see the rest of the list here). It was the perfect way to spend a fall weekend. The fall leaves outside the city were gorgeous and right at their peak in stunning fall colors and the orchard was full of juicy, delicious apples. We ended up going a little apple crazy and picked so many apples that I could barely lift our basket (see picture below). And, we made sure not to miss out on the yummy apple cider donuts. Now, I just need to determine what I should bake with our haul of apples.
Happy Friday everyone! October has been flying by and that means that Halloween is right around the corner. With Halloween coming so quickly, it is time to start thinking of decorations and such. Therefore in this weeks Friday Find, I want to share with you these amazing skull ice cube molds from CB2. They would be ideal for drinks or punch at a Halloween party and would add the perfect amount of spookiness. And once Halloween is over, who says you can’t continue to enjoy skull ice cubes in your drinks?!? Have a great weekend!
Gallery walls (like these ones) are big right now in interior design. They are a great way to display multiple pieces of artwork in small spaces and let you mix and match different designs. My sister was inspired by this when decorating her room and decided to take her own spin on it with her jewelry. Using 3M hooks and some creativity, she created the design in these pictures. I love that she was able to create artwork for her wall while also finding a creative way to store her jewelry. Given my ever expanding jewelry collection, I think I will be adding this to my wall soon using these.
Trench: Michael Kors, Shirt: Madewell, Pants: Jcrew, Shoes: Jcrew, Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren, Watch: Michele |
A trench has been on my want list for awhile. I have fallen in love with many on the mannequin or hangar, but never could find one that I liked once I tried it on. This particular coat fell into the latter category with me instantly being drawn to it on the hangar. I walked past the coat multiple times and kept telling myself I should try it on. Urged on by friends, I finally tried the trench on and was pleasantly surprised that it looked better on than I could imagine.
Let’s talk faux leather skirts. Faux leather skirts are a great alternative to real leather as they are more wallet friendly while offering the same look. When recently looking online, I came across these two skirts and couldn’t help but notice the similarities. Both skirts offer a similar shape, perforated fabric, and scalloped edge, yet are at much different price points. I think both skirts are great options and recommend investing in the Club Monaco skirt, if you think you will be rocking this style all fall and for seasons to come. If you think it is a more of the moment piece for yourself, then I would recommend saving with the Forever 21 version. Whether you budget or covet, you will be chic and stylish.
Cape: Gap, Shirt: Jcrew, Pants: Jcrew, Shoes: Gap, Purse: Zara, Sunglasses: Ralph Lauren, Watch: Michele, Necklace: Kate Spade |
This is my new cape for fall and I am obsessed with it. I had been looking for a cape the last couple of fall seasons, but could never find one I liked. When I saw this one at Gap, I knew this was the cape I had been searching for with its chunky knit style and zipper detail. Since buying it last week, I have been wearing it constantly. It is perfect to throw on as an extra layer for running errands and can easily be dressed up with heals. I love that the zipper detail allows for a peek-a-boo of the shirt beneath and think pairing the cape with a patterned shirt, like this one or this one, would be a perfect fall outfit.
